With new insights about Allan Robertson's life and times, his matches, Sir Hugh Lyon Playfair, the Rabbit Wars, the Dempsters, and more than 300 images, all set to the backdrop of the ever-evolving St. Andrews, Royal & Ancient Club and the links, Allan Robertson of St. Andrews, The King of Clubs 1815-1859 brings Allan's remarkable life to light.

Roger McStravick was a guest recently on the “TalkinGolf History” podcast, hosted by Connor Lewis, to discuss the book. You can download/listen to it here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/talkingolf/id1451016278?i=1000697281452

A note about the co-author Bill Williams:

This would have been Bill William's fourth project, having previously written two books about Harry Vardon and one on Edward (Ted) Ray. As a sports fan, history fascinated him since his school days. He split his time between Florida, where he could play golf year round, and the Kingdom of Fife, where he could also play golf all year round. He was a proud member of the British Golf Collectors Society, the Golf Heritage Society in the USA and the Leith Rules Golf Society. He was also a member of The StAndrews Golf Club.

Bill died in July 2020 and is sorely missed by his family, including Bill's son Liam Williams, daughter Emma Mihlenstedt and grandchildren Billy Mihlenstedt, Marcus and Freddy Williams.
