McStravick, a St. Andrews native, picked up several accolades for his previous work on books such as St. Andrews in the Footsteps of Old Tom Morris and The Road War Papers - including being awarded the coveted U.S.G.A. Herbert Warren Wind twice in 2016 and 2020!
A note about co-author Bill Williams:
This would have been Bill William's fourth project, having previously written two books about Harry Vardon and one on Edward (Ted) Ray. As a sports fan, history fascinated him since his school days. He split his time between Florida, where he could play golf year-round, and the Kingdom of Fife, where he could also play golf all year round. He was a proud member of the British Golf Collectors Society, the Golf Heritage Society in the USA and the Leith Rules Golf Society. He was also a member of The St. Andrews Golf Club.
Bill died in July 2020 and is sorely missed by his family, including Bill's son Liam Williams, daughter Emma Mihlenstedt and grandchildren Billy Mihlenstedt, Marcus and Freddy Williams.
