1939 Bobby Jones Photo by Harold Edgerton - PSA Type III

In 1938, Harold Edgerton famously used his newly invented multi-flash photography technique on golfer Bobby Jones. The result was a first ever look at the entirety of the golf swing - from one of the best to ever do it nonetheless!
This specific photo for sale was printed on January 30th, 1939, just months after the original images were taken. Though it is categorized as a PSA Type III (meaning it is from a duplicate negative rather than from the original negative), what makes this example so unique is that it's dated so close to when the original photo was taken. Type I photos are categorized as being made from the original negative within two years of the photo being taken... This example was from mere months after the original!
Adding to the mystique of this example is the writeup on the back - that is entirely in German! Golf was certainly a growing to be a world-wide sport by the late 1930's... thanks in large part to the success that Jones had during his playing career. So it is understandable that golfers throughout Europe would have had interest in this as well.
