When Bobby Jones arrived at Merion Golf Club for the 1930 US Amateur, he had won the first three major championships of the year to that point... needing only the US Amateur to become the first golfer in history to complete the Grand Slam, or what would become known as the "Impregnable Quadrilateral". No golfer had won all four majors to that point in the game, let alone doing so in the same year.

In this stunning large format press photo from that 1930 US Amateur at Merion, Bobby Jones can be seen leaning against a table as he cleans the sole of one of his shoes during a round. Also visible in the photo are the standard bearer for his match and his caddie.

The image itself is very clear with appropriate press stampings on the backside.

Authenticated by PSA as a Type I photo, meaning this was printed from the original negative within two years of the photo being taken.

A remarkable artifact that would be a tremendous addition to any collection.
